Chef/Owner Bill Gilbert moved to Lake Tahoe from Maine in 1979. Out looking for work one day, he found a job at Le Petit Pier as a busboy. But the owner, Jean Dufau, asked him to help out in the kitchen on his 1st night. Bill asked if he could stay working in the kitchen. The chef, Jean-Pierre Doignon gve his OK, and a year and a half later, Bill began work as Jean-Pierre’s assistant at La Cheminée, a restaurant co-owned by Jean-Pierre and Tommy Cortopassi.

After 5 years, Bill moved on to become chef for Yves Pimparel at La Table Française. Other chef positions that he has held were at Marie’s Petit Bistro, Metro Grill, and Galena Forest Restaurant.

In November 2002, with his wife Trisha, and in-laws Jerry and Teresa Jackson, Bill opened Beaujolais Bistro. Beaujolais Bistro is a French style bistro that features authentic French cooking as well as modern interpretations of French cuisine.
